I remember seeing a photo some time ago of a bronze figure standing in water, in a crypt somewhere. I think it was at Winchester Cathedral.
Then I found out it was a statue by Antony Gormley. Some time later, they announced his ‘Another Place’ project on the beach at Crosby in Merseyside (another bit of pilfering from Lancashire), but this time with something like 150 bronze figures permanently anchored into the sands. They’re at different places in relation to the shoreline, so as the tide moves in and out, so the figures more or less covered by the water. Means you hardly ever see the same scene whenever you visit. Brilliant!
